2359 –civil war index: 1 minute until midnight.
The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists has a “Doomsday Clock” on their publication (http://www.thebulletin.org/). It indicates the probability of nuclear holocaust. Because their analog clock is registered, I’ve had to go digital.
I believe this country is teetering on the brink of civil war. There are lunatics afoot who would even welcome this. They are ignorant of history. Civil war is a horrible thing- ask any Lebanon Marine, or anyone who’s served in the former Yugoslavia.
There are several kick-ass reasons for war to ignite in this country. The abortion debate and the current political polarization come to mind. States’ rights and “full faith and credit” are a proven flash point. I’m starting this post to encourage reasoned debate. If I’m wrong, convince me of this. If you agree with me, suggest solutions. I strongly advise all to attend whatever governmental meetings they can. Monitor your representatives. Stay with the Constitution. VOTE. Government is what happens to you while you’re asleep.
I will monitor this thread as time allows. Posts I find obnoxious will be deleted. This IS a blog, after all.

Terri Schiavo is near death. Too many questions remain regarding this slow-motion murder. Let's add legalized euthanasia of humans to the mix. The Rev's comment below is just one of many I've seen from people who are really wrapped around the axle over this.

The DU thread referenced above was deleted or moved shortly after I linked to it.
The anti-war(anti-George Bush) movement is gathering steam. They may yet succeed in convincing the uninformed that we are fighting Viet Nam again- even though this World War is a different war, with much higher stakes (Why We Fight- a personal view). The moonbat Left is using tactics that are beyond despicable{hat tip: via LGF}. The tolerance level of many who have served our country is waning (ref. footnote in hangin-with-cindys-buds.html).

Sadly I feel that you may be right and that America may be on the verge of a civil war--certainly it is now engaged in an ideological civil war. And it is NOT the religious right against the left. It is the radical left against everyone else. The extreme left, the Michael Moores, the Janeanne Garofolos, Nancy Pelosis, Barbara Boxers, Ted Kennedys, Harry Reids and abetted by the John Conyers and Charlie Rangels, all the bottom feeders scrabbling to get to the top of the power ladder so they can have CONTROL and dictate to everyone else what's good for them. And I say that as a Canadian looking on from a distance. It's sad and terrible and the Schiavo case has deepened the rift.
I think what will happen is at the next election the Democrats will go down to resounding defeat and America will be left, as Canada has been, with a virtual one-party system which creates it's own problems. Once the only viable alternative party is destroyed, or in this case destroys itself, it takes years to rebuild or ever trust the same crowd again. Even a new crowd under the same Democrat name will cause the Democrats to spend years trying to regain the public's trust.
Canada has been bedevilled by this syndrome for years and are only now getting a fighting chance of getting rid of our left wing liberal party after 15 years of their stupidity and mismanagement and outright corruption. I hope America can come out of it.

I have been talking to a lot of people. Do you realy think there will not be a CIVIL WAR! Get real the bloodshead will happen sooner than you think because I have heard people that I don't even know wanting to hang Judges in the streets for judicial tyranny and injustice for Terri. I would not want to be in their shoes. Just think what is worse than to solemnize marrying two sodomites together.
With you and I on the same side, they have not a chance. Civil war might have been imminent before the the dissemination of real news on the net. But arm the people with the truth and we will prevail
The reason that there won't be a civil war in the foreseeable future is that the people who are most desperate to have one also happen to be the people who are least capable of waging one. The danger is that these people will help our external enemies to the detriment of this nation and Western society in general.
